TOORA PRIMARY SCHOOL CLUBS PROGRAM

CLUBS

For young people who live in an isolated area it can often be difficult to find an interest and pursue it.  With the help of many enthusiastic staff and community volunteers, Toora Primary School give all of their students the opportunity to pursue an interest through their newly introduced ‘Clubs’ program.  Students from across the school break off into their chosen club to go and develop skills in their newfound hobbies.

Expert Teacher Glenda Ginnivan developed the ‘Clubs’ program with the aim of broadening the experiences of students, whilst improving leadership and cooperative skills and nurturing a passion for learning.  Bass Coast Regional Health’s School Focused Youth Service Program could see value in the program and provided seeding funding to get it off the ground in 2006.

The School Community is delighted with the levels of enthusiasm shown across the school, as well as the student’s achievements. Last year’s clubs included tennis, knitting, sewing, chess, calligraphy, board games, basic maintenance, choir, mural painting and computers.

The  2008 Clubs program is in the planning stage. If you have a hobby or interest that you could assist or lead a club with, please contact Principal Barbara Purvis or Expert Teacher Glenda Ginnivan on 5686 2283 for more information about how to become involved.
