AQUATIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
We
are fortunate to be located next to one of
Aquatic
PD - An example of the Toora School Community working together for the
benefit of our students. Parents, aide, teacher and principal participated in an
aquatics in-service during the first week of term and certificates authorized by
Jean Kemp were presented at Monday’s assembly by our school captains. Ongoing
learning and learning together are features of our school that we can be proud
of. I believe this is excellent modelling for our students.
Traditionally the Toora Primary School has conducted an intensive Aquatic
Education program with all students from Prep - 6 actively participating in
hourly sessions four days a week for the first few weeks of Term 1, culminating
in a Swimming Carnival where students of all levels demonstrate stroke
technique, water confidence and safety, as well as compete in House Races and
Games.
This
year we are varying our program. Our intensive Aquatic Education program will be
conducted during term 4.
However,
during term 1 we conducted a Fun Day at the pool where all students participated
in a range of water activities. We also ran time trials and training sessions so
that all eligible students were given opportunity to compete in the interschool
swimming sports. The interschool swimming sports were held at Korumburra and our
students joined with those of Welshpool and
